Britrail Scottish Freedom Rail Pass The BritRail Scottish Freedom Pass allows unlimited travel on all scheduled services operated by ScotRail, Great North Eastern Railway and Virgin trains within Scotland, including travel to/from Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Glasgow Underground.

The Scottish Freedom pass lets you roam the hills and glens of Scotland as well as all its exciting cities. You get a range of flexible travel days that will fit into any itinerary. Choose from 4 days of travel within 8 days, or 8 days of travel within 15 days. All travel is in standard class.

On presentation of a valid pass, Passholders may collect a Travelpass Pack containing timetables and discount vouchers from the following stations: Edinburgh Waverley, Glasgow Queen Street, Glasgow Central, Inverness, Dundee, Paisley Gilmour Street, Perth, Stirling, Aberdeen, Oban and Fort William.

You also get:

• Unlimited travel on the national rail network of Scotland
• Travel any 4 days in 8 days or any 8 days in 15 days
• Travel days may be used consecutively or non-consecutively
• Transportation on all Caledonian MacBrayne and Strathclyde ferries to the islands
• Discount on some P&O ferry routes, on certain CityLink coach services and Guide Friday Tours
• Travel on the Glasgow Underground.

Britrail Scottish Freedom Rail Pass Conditions

The Scottish Freedom Rail Pass has conditions apart from the normal BritRail pass conditions of carriage. These are:-

• Residents of United Kingdom are not eligible to purchase or use a BritRail Scottish Freedom Pass.
• Pass is not valid for travel on trains departing before 09:15 am, Monday-Friday.
• Passes must be validated within 6 months of issue date.
• Passes must be validated prior to boarding the first train.
• 7:00 PM rule applies (ie: overnight travel after 7.00pm into the next day only counts as one day and not two).
• Persons using a U.S. military I.D. are eligible to purchase this pass.

Refund And Exchange

Lost or stolen rail passes are neither refundable nor replaceable. Handling and/or issuing charges are not refundable. Pass insurance is recommended. Unused rail passes are refundable within one (1) year from issue date (or six (6) months from issue date where so stated) provided they have not been validated, have been cancelled and so stamped at a retail station prior to the beginning of the validation period.

All refunds are subject to a 15% cancellation charge. Unused vouchers of combination packages (those combining rail with other travel programs such as car rental or hotel) are not refundable if any of the services of the entire combination package have been wholly or partially used. Partially used or validated passes are 100% nonrefundable.

If you cancel your tickets, you must return them before the first date of travel. We will then refund the cost of the tickets subject to the deduction of cancellation fees. In the event that tickets arrive in our office after the first date of travel, no refund can be given.
